Background check

A background check is a process in which the specifics of an individual's past are revealed for the purposes of employment, obtaining access to classified information, or obtaining restricted items.
They are conducted to confirm information found on an employment application or r?sum?. They may also be done as a way to differentiate potential employees and pick the best suited for the position.

In the United States, the Brady Bill requires criminal background checks for those purchasing handguns from firearms dealers.

Mortgages

A mortgage is a method of using property as security for the payment of a debt.
The term mortgage (from Law French, lit. dead pledge) refers to the legal device used in securing the property, but it is also commonly used to refer to the debt secured by the mortgage.
In most jurisdictions mortgages are strongly associated with loans secured on real estate rather than other property (such as ships) and in some cases only land may be mortgaged.

Lemon Law

Lemon Laws are United States state laws that provide remedies for automobiles that repeatedly fail to meet certain standards of quality and performance, which are called lemons. Lemon Laws vary by state and may not necessarily cover used or leased vehicles. The rights afforded by Lemon Laws may exceed the warranties expressed in purchase contracts.
